Scope of the Study

Tampa School Transportation Safety Study outlines strategies for a school safety study focused on advancing physical transportation system improvements around schools and developing a framework for encouraging walking, biking, and busing. This work builds on the previous Transportation Planning Organization’s (TPO) School Transportation Safety Study (2018). It will establish a library of Safe Routes to School (SRTS) resources that can support individual school programs in the future. Our initial project approach includes the following tasks:

Update School Prioritization List (all 274 schools)
Identify Stakeholder Group
Assess Existing Safe Routes to School Programs at Area Schools
Survey District Families
Survey Principals
Identification of physical transportation system improvements around and connecting to a set of schools
Development of school-specific education and encouragement strategies and a template/process that can be used for other schools in the district (Library of Educational and Encouragement Resources)
