Over 600,000 people live in unincorporated Hillsborough County. Land uses vary from rural farm land to suburban neighborhoods. Dozens of unique communities are found here, each with its own identity, growth issues, and concerns.
While Hillsborough County has numerous diverse communities, development regulations are general in nature and are administered on a county-wide basis. Community-based plans are more detailed and provide individualized recommendations. They allow citizens to chart their own course in reshaping the appearance and function of their community.
