January 2020 – The Independent Oversight Committee (IOC) was created to oversee spending of the penny surtax for transportation and implementation of the projects identified in the Project Plans for each jurisdiction/agency. At their meeting on November 21, 2019 , the IOC of the Hillsborough County Transportation Sales Surtax approved the transportation surtax project plans for calendar year 2020. Sean Shaw, Chair of the IOC, stated they are very happy to play their part in certifying the surtax project plans which will improve transportation across Hillsborough County.
