Project Overview
Framed by a growing demand for electric vehicles, and the recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that will provide the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) with $198 million, the need for a local electric vehicle infrastructure plan has never been greater. The purpose of this plan is to identify locations where Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure can be deployed, provide a framework for prioritizing charging stations, and give policymakers guidance on implementing compatible land development codes.
Scope of the Study
- Research electric vehicle fundamentals and industry background and review relevant current and previous EV plans
- Conduct public outreach including advisory committee meetings, stakeholder listening sessions, and a public survey
- Prepare an existing conditions analysis including existing EV infrastructure, equitable access, existing land-use analysis, and a local jurisdiction development and zoning regulations audit
- Provide EV adoption scenarios and forecasts and identify needs
- Provide recommendations for EV charing locations with an equitable access analysis, a framework for prioritizing EV charging locations, and policy recommendations to local jurisdictions
- Develop a final report
