Ybor City Vision 2020

City of Tampa – Ybor City Development Corporation (YCDC)  asked the Planning Commission to help create a new Vision Plan for the Ybor City 1 and 2 Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA) of the City of Tampa. Ybor City, only one of two nationally recognized landmark districts in Florida, has a unique background and diverse cultural heritage. The district has undergone significant economic development and investment since the last CRA update in 2010. Through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process Vanasse, Hangen and Brustlin, Incorporated. (VHB) was selected by the project evaluation selection team, comprised of City and Planning Commission staff, based on an understanding of the context of development, infrastructure and transit in and surrounding Ybor; identifying several critical issues to the success of the project; an understanding of the desired market analysis; and, an innovative public participation process, including a healthy community design assessment component.

The planning project to undertaken by these three participants commenced this February and was completed December, 2019.

The plan was presented to and accepted by the YCDC on September 30, 2019.

The plan was presented to and accepted by the Planning Commission the afternoon of November 18, 2019.

The plan was presented to and accepted by the City CRA Board the morning of December 12, 2019.
