Walk of Silence – Alexis Miranda

On October 6, 2017, a group of over 50 family members, friends, and advocates for Vision Zero took to the streets in honor of Alexis Miranda who died one-year prior on her walk to Chamberlain High School. Those who participated in this “Walk of Silence” were asked to remain silent, wear white shoes, and carry posters of Alexis. The walk was purposely conducted during the morning rush hour when the most number of motorists hurrying to work are faced with students making their way to school, a recipe for tragedy that resulted in Alexis’ death. Slowing down, being engaged while driving, and realizing that maybe arriving 2 minutes later is worth saving the life of someone’s parent, grandmother, or in Alexis’ case a sister and daughter.
