Sunshine Line gets an A+ from riders

Sunsine Line pick upHillsborough County’s Sunshine Line received high marks from its riders again this year! In FY 2014, the Sunshine Line made more than a half million door-to-door trips for those who do not have the means or ability to transport themselves, and are dependent on others to obtain health care, employment, education, shopping, and other life sustaining activities. The Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board (TDCB) is tasked with conducting an annual evaluation, which considers Reliability, Service Effectiveness, Service Efficiency, Service Availability, and Safety.

This year the Sunshine Line met 9 of the 10 performance standards in these five areas. In the area of Reliability, the standard was not met, with a higher than normal number of vehicle breakdowns. To address this problem, the County is replacing its aging fleet.

The evaluation also included two client surveys. A survey of 3,217 Sunshine Line riders reported a 98 percent approval rating for those receiving door to door service. The second survey, which focused on HART riders, also showed improvement in rider satisfaction. For more information, contact Michele Ogilvie at ogilviem@plancom.org or 813.273.3774 x317.
