Staff Spotlight: Caroline Charles

Caroline CharlesCaroline Charles | Community Relations Coordinator | Tenure: 11 months

Caroline began her government career working in the Marketing & Publicity Office for the 35th Force Support Squadron in Misawa Air Force Base, Japan. After moving to Tampa in 2019, she started working for the Planning Commission on the Public Engagement team. One of her first projects was designing the 2019 Plan Hillsborough Annual Report. She helps put together the monthly newsletter, assists with various design projects, writing and editing, social media, special events, photography, and has recently started developing short videos for the agency as part of the Citizen Engagement Strategic Planning Group. She is currently helping plan the 38th Annual Planning & Design awards program and is creating the graphic design for the upcoming Hillsborough County Comprehensive Plan update. Caroline loves showing how Plan Hillsborough is improving our community through each of our communication mediums but is particularly excited about developing the agency’s new video capabilities.

While she was born and raised in California’s Bay Area, she and her husband have also lived in Maryland and Northern Japan before they were stationed at MacDill Air Force Base, so “home” is wherever the Air Force sends them. She has been to 14 countries and is always looking for new places to explore. Caroline loves to travel, cook, read, go for runs, spend time with her family and cat, Mazzy.
