October 2021 – Registration is still open for the 4th annual Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit. This free event will take place November 2 – 4, bringing together a fantastic array of presentations and panels to encourage transportation safety and accessibility across the region.
Each year, the Sun Coast Transportation Planning Alliance (SCTPA) hosts the event. This year, participants can choose from over two dozen sessions to attend, including the following sessions that Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) committee members, planning partners and staff will present:
- “Transportation Demand Management: The Key to Mode Shift” by Christine Acosta of Pedal Power Promoters
- “Creating a Complete Streets Ecosystem” by Matt Lewis of Hillsborough County’s Community & Infrastructure Planning department
- “Walk/Bike-Friendly Modern Roundabouts” presented by Ken Sides of Sam Schwartz Engineering
- “The Curb: Where the Public Realm Begins” by Josh Frank of Dover, Kohl & Partners
- “Hillsborough TPO Vision Zero Action Plan: From Plan to Implementation” by Kathrin Tellez of Fehr & Peers
- “Prioritizing Safety & Equity in Tampa and Citywide Vision Plan & Neighborhood Commercial District Plans” by Alana Brasier of the City of Tampa
Participants can also enjoy in-person mobile tours including a Vision Zero Showcase, Courtney Campbell Causeway Bike Ride, and a neighborhood walking tour. There will also be on-your-own mobile tours available. COVID protocols will be in place per CDC guidelines and capacity is limited for in-person events.
