Hillsborough River offers plenty of socially distant activities

biker on the Hillsborough River WalkJanuary 2021 – With social distancing, masks, and other precautions still needed due to the health pandemic, recreation on and around the Hillsborough River has never been better. There are opportunities to rent canoes on the Hillsborough River from private vendors and at some Hillsborough County Parks, like Lettuce Lake Park.  During the cooler months, hiking trails along the Hillsborough River are a great way to spend time in nature. Boaters, canoers, and kayakers can enjoy the newly renovated facilities at the Lowry Park Boat Ramp on the Hillsborough River, expected to be completed by the end of January.

The Tampa Riverwalk is great for pedestrian strolls and abounds with great views of the river. Nighttime adds a special ambiance to strolling the Riverwalk. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a meal and a drink from the Riverwalk including Sparkman Wharf, the Sail Plaza, and Armature Works. The Pirate Water Taxi has daily passes that allow you to enjoy views and various destinations from the water. E-Boats of Tampa rents electric boats near Sail Plaza. Even during a pandemic, there are safe opportunities to get outside and enjoy the Hillsborough River.
