July 2021 – A call for proposals is now open for the Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit, an annual event that advocates for transportation safety and accessibility throughout the Tampa Bay area.

The hybrid event takes place November 2–4, 2021, and will feature virtual speakers, virtual panels, in-person mobile workshops, and virtual presentation sessions. The deadline for proposals is July 23, 2021.

“Plan Hillsborough is excited to participate in this year’s Gulf Coast Safe Street Summit,” TPO Principal Planner Lisa K. Silva, AICP, PLA said. “Given the Summit will include three specific focus areas– equity, technology and land use– we are proud to submit the excellent equity work our agency has been doing on the Non-Discrimination Plan update.

This year marks Ms. Silva’s fourth year contributing to the event on behalf of the TPO. The event is supported by the Sun Coast TPA, a six-member alliance of area Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) that includes the TPO.

“We look forward to our partners submitting their efforts to implement Vision Zero systematically throughout the county and beyond.”

The Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit will be held in coordination with the 2021 Bike Walk Tampa Bay Virtual Summit, which will take place during the same week. For more information about the event or to submit a proposal, visit https://www.gulfcoastsafestreetssummit.org/call-for-proposals.
