November 2020 – On Thursday, November 19 several Plan Hillsborough staff participated in the Great American Teach-In, held virtually due to the pandemic. Our staff presented to 16 classes of high schoolers at Tampa Bay Tech on how Smart Cities technology can change transportation and encouraged them to share their feedback through the survey. Many of the students were excited about the possibilities of Smart Public Safety technology while others expressed concerns about criminals stealing their personal information and jeopardizing their privacy. Many of the students liked the idea of being driven around in an automated vehicle while they were sleeping or playing their video games, while others still desire the experience of being able to drive themselves. Our staff really enjoyed the opportunity to talk with students about Smart City technologies and careers in the planning field.
