Community Gardens Conference

Coalition of Community Gardens logoNovember  2021 – On October 22, the Coalition of Community Gardens held its 4th Annual Grow Gardens Conference, a day-long event featuring a packed itinerary of presentations on the healthy impact of community gardens along with a special address by Nikki Fried, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The event took place at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Plant City’s Trinkle Center.

“The conference provided a great place for people to learn from other gardeners, farmers, and policymakers on the many efforts to support our local food system,” said Hillsborough TPO Principal Planner Wade Reynolds, AICP. “Assisting local groups to create community gardens with walk/bike access is one way the TPO helps make fresh food less inaccessible in Tampa’s many food deserts.”

The Coalition of Community Gardens is a network of community gardens and other allied entities that support community gardening, build infrastructure, share knowledge and resources, and advocate for related public policies in the West Central Florida area.
