February 2023 -According to Smart Cities Drive, used electric models are selling faster than used conventional vehicles in Tampa Bay. And now the recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) will provide the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) with $29 million to make charging them more accessible. We’re talking about electric vehicles (EVs), and the need for charging them through a local EV infrastructure plan has never been greater.
Introducing the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan (EVIP)
Hillsborough TPO, in partnership with FDOT, TECO, USF’s Clean Cities Coalition, and local jurisdictions, is evaluating the current ways people in our area charge electric vehicles, the charging stations and methods that are available, and policies that govern them. The project, called the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan (EVIP) uses existing information and public and professional input to provide policy recommendations and a framework for prioritizing charging locations.
