Discover the Hillsborough River’s wild side and join the County Hiking Spree

people enjoying the river from boardwalkJanuary 2022 – Hillsborough County’s Hiking Spree is in full swing and offers a great way to get outdoors and see the Hillsborough River. This County program encourages people to hike the many public parks in the county and earn a prize upon completion. Participants may hike on their own, with a group, or through one of the county’s guided park staff hikes. Some sites have entrance and parking fees. Hikers may repeat any trail twice for credit if the hikes occur on different dates.

Register for the program online and complete a minimum of eight designated trails before March 31, 2022, to earn a prize. Among the best parks to hike and enjoy the Hillsborough River are the Hillsborough River State Park and Lettuce Lake Conservation Park. Lettuce Lake features an extensive boardwalk along and over the river, while Hillsborough River State Park offers trails along the river and two bridges over the river.
