Plant City presents 60th anniversary proclamation to Hillsborough Planning Commission

60th anniversary proclamation presented by Plant City

Plant City presents 60th anniversary proclamation to Hillsborough Planning CommissionNovember 2019 – On Monday, October 28, Plant City Mayor Rick A. Lott and the City Commission presented the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission with a proclamation commemorating our 60th anniversary of service. Since October 1, 1959, the Planning Commission has worked with Plant City to address long-range and comprehensive planning issues facing the community. Plant City has grown from a small town of 15,000 residents to a vibrant city of 40,000 in those 60 years.

The Planning Commission modernized the municipality’s vision in the Imagine 2040: Plant City Comprehensive Plan in 2016. The updated plan delivers new solutions to create a unique sense of place, promote a thriving local economy, provide for superior educational opportunities and ensure quality services and infrastructure. All of these themes were determined through numerous civic engagement initiatives and are in line with Plant City’s motto of “Embracing the Future, while Preserving the Past.”

The Planning Commission is proud to accept this proclamation from Plant City and will continue to work with our city partner to make Plant City a great place to live, work, and play.
