November 2019 – Mitch Thrower, Chair of the Planning Commission, has served on the American Planning Association’s (APA) Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) for the past two years. The PAB is responsible for accrediting universities and colleges in North America who offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in planning.
The accreditation process is based upon PAB approved standards with input from the public and sponsoring organizations including APA, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), the professional planners institute, and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP). Mitch was appointed by the American Planning Association’s President in 2017 to serve a three-year term. According to Mitch, “I have really enjoyed the opportunity to serve and support PAB’s mission to promote excellence among planning programs and ensure high quality education for future urban planners.”
