Staff Spotlight: Roger Mathie

Roger Mathie | Project Manager I | Tenure: 19 years

When Roger started with the Planning Commission/MPO, he came in on the tail end of the 2020 long range transportation plan (LRTP). He’s since worked on the 2025, 2035, 2040, and the 2045 LRTPs. He does the GIS mapping for the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority and West Central Florida Chairs Coordinating Committee, including the Multi-Use Trails Map, Regional Road Map, Transportation Regional Incentive Program (TRIP) Submittals Map, Transportation Management Area, and the Resiliency Maps for the region.

Recently, Roger was the project manager for GIS mapping for the Environmental Consultation Workshop, working with Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties, including overseeing the GIS files and templates for each county. He’s expanded from GIS to working with InDesign/Illustrator to create the MPO Calendars for 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020; State of the System Report for 2016 and 2018; Planning Commission Annual Report; regional Ride Guide, Multi-Use Trails Brochure 2016 and 2017; and the It’s Time Tampa Bay rack cards and banners.

Roger’s favorite part about living in the Tampa Bay region is basically a sports highlight reel… “Watching the Bucs win Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26th, 2003 and being inside Ray Jay for the victory celebration as we brought home the Vince Lombardi Trophy; being inside the original Ice Palace to see the Lightning win the 2004 Stanley Cup; and rooting for the Rays in the World Series for the first time.” He also enjoys visiting wineries and breweries with friends.
