Staff Spotlight: Joshua Barber

Josh BarberJoshua Barber | Community Planner II | Tenure: 9 months

Joshua Barber is a Community Planner II with the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and has been with the agency for nine months. Prior to working at the MPO, he worked for a medium-sized consulting firm in Tampa doing multimodal and transit planning for two years and was a research assistant at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) and Patel College for Global Sustainability. His primary work is serving as the staff liaison for the Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board where he has the opportunity to advance the quality of life for Hillsborough County’s most underserved residents. In addition, Joshua is our project lead for the update of the Title VI and Nondiscrimination Plan, where he is looking to advance equity agency-wide and build upon his prior experience at CUTR.

Joshua is originally from Ormond Beach, Florida and moved to Tampa for school where he has lived for nearly 10 years. He graduated from USF with a Bachelors in Economics and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning. His favorite part of living in our community is the access to water, the quaint tree-lined neighborhoods, and natural spaces. In his spare time, Joshua enjoys throwing pottery, riding his bicycle, reading, and birding. One fun fact about Joshua is that he won his High School’s superlatives for wittiest and most individual in his class.
