AMPO is a transportation advocate for metropolitan regions and is committed to enhancing MPOs’ abilities to improve metropolitan transportation systems. The panel included practitioners on vulnerability assessments, nature and engineering-based solutions, and experiences from Hillsborough MPO and Forward Pinellas.

Gena shared in the AMPO Active Transportation Working Group. The newly formed working group was introduced to focus on active transportation. MPO staff from around the country were asked what they are currently doing in the area of non-motorized travel, what resources they need, how they fund projects/programs, and if they would like to hold recurring meetings throughout the year to cover safety and active transportation topics.
