Warm welcomes

June 2019 – Over the past several months, we’ve had the opportunity to welcome great new talent to Plan Hillsborough. Left to right:

Meghan D. BetourneySPHR | Project Manager – Accountability & Employee EngagementMeghan has Human Resources experience in both the private and public sector with her most recent experience as an HR Project Manager with the Hillsborough County Civil Service Board. She graduated from Georgetown University with a double major in Psychology and Women’s Studies and received her Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from UCF. Meghan loves spending time with her pets and traveling with family and friends. 

Jerid McAdoo | Planning and Mapping Technician | Comprehensive Plan, Policy & Review Division Jerid assists with amendment intake through final adoption. He is a graduate of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and a concentration in Social Geography. In his free time, Jerid enjoys sporting events, traveling, and visiting local theme parks. 

Cheryl Wilkening | Administrative Specialist II | Hillsborough MPOCheryl works supporting Executive Director Beth Alden and the MPO staff. She comes to us from Adecco/Sunbelt Staffing, where she was a national recruiter and credentialer for a wide range of medical professionals. When Cheryl isn’t working, she spends time with her family and enjoys the beach, outdoor activities, and watching movies. Cheryl has been married to her husband Kurt for over 20 years and has two great teenage kids, a Golden Retriever, and Cavachon. 

Danny Collins | Community Planner II | Comprehensive Plan, Policy & Review Division | Dannys primary duties include the analysis and development of rezoning and plan amendment reports for the City of Tampa and presenting those findings before the Planning Commission Board and Tampa City Council. He holds a graduate degree from the University of West Florida in Environmental Science and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo State CollegeNew to the Tampa Bay community, Danny has worked previously for the Santa Rosa County Planning and Zoning Department in northwest Florida. 

Katrina Corcoran | Community Planner II | Strategic Planning, Environmental & Research DivisionKatrina is focusing on the tie between transportation and land use. She previously worked as a planner with Renaissance Planning Group, focusing on efficient transportation decision making processes, Vision Zero public engagement, and multimodal transportation. A graduate of USF’s Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program, Katrina is a professional development officer for the local APA Sun Coast section. A fun fact about Katrina is that she adopted her two rescue cats, Max and Maycee, from the Bahamas.

Jiwuan HaleyAICP | Senior Planner | Comprehensive Plan, Policy & Review DivisionJiwuan assists her team with reviewing rezoning and Comprehensive Plan amendments for consistency with the Unincorporated Hillsborough County Comprehensive Plan. She previously served as a Land Use Planner with the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Department. Jiwuan received her master’s degree from Florida State University’s MURP program. 

We’re also excited to welcome two interns, left to right:

Josh Blackman | Public Engagement Intern | Josh is assisting with community engagement, communications, the Future Leaders in Planning, and the Planning Commission’s 2019 Annual Planning & Design Awards program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in both event management and hospitality management; has received his post-baccalaureate graduate certification in emergency management and homeland security; and is a current student in the University of Central Florida’s MURP program. Prior to working at Plan Hillsborough, he managed event operation teams with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Strategic Property Partners as well as the Orlando Magic and UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. 

Wei Chen | Summer InternWei is our summer intern helping to organize the Long Range Transportation Plan’s Regional Environmental Consultation Workshop and update the transportation health atlas. He is currently an undergraduate student in USF’s Environmental Science & Policy – School of Geosciences and plans to go into a career involving sustainable coastal development. He enjoys playing bass guitar in his free time.
