First Transportation Sales Surtax public hearing postponed to October 26 2020

IOC LogoJuly 2020 – The Independent Oversight Committee (IOC) for the Transportation Sales Surtax first annual public hearing that was scheduled for August 11, 2020 has been postponed to Monday, October 26, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. The calendar will be posted with the agenda and details on ways citizens can participate in the public hearing at PlanHillsborough.org/calendar/ at least one week prior to the meeting.

The IOC was created in 2019 to oversee spending of the penny tax for transportation projects. The main functions of the IOC are to provide a transparent process by reviewing an audit of the proceeds to ensure compliance with applicable laws and statutes; approve Agency Project Plans; prepare an annual report summarizing the results of the audit and any findings made; and review projects proposed by citizens and forward them to the appropriate agency. At the public hearing, the IOC will vote to approve findings of the Sales Tax Audit Report, approve the annual report, and review project proposals from citizens.

In addition to the Annual Public Hearing, citizens can submit project suggestions at any time using the Project Request Form for Citizens. Learn more about the IOC.
