October 2019 – The Independent Oversight Committee (IOC) had its second meeting at County Center on September 23 where members were updated on transportation issues across Hillsborough County. Committee members representing Hillsborough County, the Cities of Tampa, Temple Terrace, and Plant City, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART), the Property Appraiser, and the Tax Collector approved meeting dates for the remainder of the year and the 2020 calendar year. The committee discussed a process to give citizens the opportunity to propose transportation projects during a town hall style meeting, which will take place in April. Some members expressed concerns about governments utilizing surtax funds to replace existing transportation funds, rather than supplementing them. The committee’s next meeting will take place on Monday, October 21 from 5-9 p.m. at County Center on the 26th floor, conference rooms A&B.
